What is the difference between a traditional saleroom auction and an online auction?
Online auctions allow bidders to place their bids online over a period of two weeks – 24 hours a day and from almost anywhere worldwide. This type of platform is especially well-suited to artworks in the lower to middle market price segments.
How do I register to bid?
In order to participate in our online auction, you must register to bid on our website: . Besides your name and address, we ask for your email address in order to notify you about your bids.
How can I obtain help?

What if I have forgotten my password?
If you forget your password, we will help you to quickly and easily get a new one. Just enter the email address you used to register and we will send you a link to reset your password. If you haven’t received an email within a few minutes, please check your spam folder. Can I view the items before the auction?
All of the items are available for viewing during our pre-auction exhibition in the premises of the ARTE gallery. If you are unable to make viewing, you can request condition reports and photos.
How does the Watchlist work?
With the “Watchlist” feature, you can make your own personal catalogue containing exclusively the items in which you are interested.
How can I bid?
You can place a bid at any time during the entire period of the auction (14 days). All you have to do is click on the “Bid now” button which is next to each item in the online catalogue. Please note that for online auction we accept online bids, closed bids and telephone bids.
What happens if I am outbid a few seconds before the end of the auction?
If a new bid is entered within the last minute before the end of the auction for a lot, the bidding for that lot will be automatically extended by 3 minutes. That way you have time to decide whether you wish to bid again. The remaining time will be clearly indicated for each Lot.
Will I be automatically informed when I am outbid?
Yes, you will be informed by email, each time you are outbid. Please note that the system may be unreliable in the last 5 minutes of the auction, so we advise you not to rely solely on email notifications.
What happens if I'm not available at the time the auction starts ending?
Users may authorize Arte Media d.o.o., by written order (special Arte Media d.o.o. form), to bid on their behalf and for their account at auction, and in that way purchase the item or more of them. Arte Media d.o.o. may request proof of solvency from each ordering party, as a condition for accepting the order. Acceptance of the Arte Media d.o.o. representation shall be confirmed in writing. Users can be represented through closed offers, telephone bids or online registration. Customers can be represented through:

1. Closed bids (the buyer states the maximum amount he wants to pay for a certain Lot, the auction house bids instead of the buyer up to that amount);
2. Telephone bid (a member of the auction house calls you during the auction, informs you about the bidding process and competes with your instructions);
3. Online registration (a member of the auction house registers the order on your behalf and the system responds in accordance with your instructions).

Can I withdraw my bid?
No, each bid is binding and cannot be withdrawn.
What charges do I have to pay if I am the successful bidder?
There are no additional charges on top of the highest bid.
How do I pay?
After the close of the auction you will receive an invoice via email for all of the items on which you were the successful bidder, which you must pay within 7 days. You decide how you prefer to pay the invoice: a) credit card b) by bank transfer c) cash in our gallery spaces.
How do I receive the items I purchased?
Once we have received your payment, you can collect your purchases in our gallery spaces at the agreed time, within 14 days of the auction. You can also arrange shipping through our recommended shipping companies or a company of your own choosing.
Can I purchase an unsold Lot after the auction?
Yes, it is possible to purchase Lots after the end of the auction if the seller doesn’t withdraw his item. Our auction house applies a retention of starting prices for two weeks after the auction ends.
Will all ARTE Auctions be held on the online platform?
No, our main auctions will continue to be held in the saleroom in the traditional manner. Our online only auctions are designed for items from lower and middle price range.
How do I know if I am the successful bidder for an item?
If you are the highest bidder for an item, you will receive a notification by email. You can see all of the items on which you bid on your profile page.
